Privacy Policy
Summary
OpenFocus does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers. The app does not make any network requests.
Information we collect
None. OpenFocus does not collect any information about you, your device, or your usage.
Information stored on your device
The app stores only the minimum state needed to operate the timer locally on your device:
- The current pomodoro phase (focus or break)
- The session start time
- The pause state, if the timer is paused
This is used solely to restore the timer to the correct state when you reopen the app. The data never leaves your device and is removed when you uninstall the app.
Device identifiers
OpenFocus does not access or use any device identifiers, including IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers), IDFV, or any other persistent device or user identifier.
Sale and sharing of personal data
Because OpenFocus does not collect any personal data, we do not sell, share, rent, or otherwise transfer any personal data to third parties. This is consistent with the requirements of data protection laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA / CPRA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
System permissions
OpenFocus uses the following iOS system features. None of these involve sending data anywhere.
- AlarmKit — to ring an alarm when a focus or break interval ends, even when the app is in the background or the device is silent. Permission is requested by iOS the first time you use it.
- Live Activities (ActivityKit) — to display the running timer on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.
- Haptics — to provide subtle feedback on phase transitions.
Third-party services
OpenFocus does not use any third-party services, SDKs, analytics, advertising networks, crash reporters, or tracking tools.
Children's privacy
Because OpenFocus does not collect any data from anyone, it does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
